New Travel Ban Closes Our Doors to People Seeking Safety and Disrupts Communities Across the United States

Refugee Advocacy Lab Condemns the Trump Administration’s Travel Ban on 19 Countries

“The travel ban announced today by President Trump further closes protection pathways to the United States and prevents thousands of people from seeking safety,” said Kate Brick, Executive Director of the Refugee Advocacy Lab. “Communities across the country will feel the impacts as they and their neighbors are prevented from reuniting with their families, and local employers and business owners face hiring challenges in industries that depend on and are made stronger through global talent, particularly in healthcare, technology, education, and essential services. These policies run counter to the priorities of communities and local leaders. In March, more than 300 bipartisan state and local elected officials from across the country called for the immediate restart of the U.S. refugee resettlement program. These communities are ready and willing to welcome newcomers and the Lab will continue to work with them as we fight for a future where people have the freedom to keep their families safe.”
