Limited Access: The Landscape of In-State Tuition for Displaced Students

Many forcibly displaced populations residing in the United States face barriers accessing state level benefits and opportunities in their new communities, including equitable access to higher education. This webinar, held on December 1, 2022, shared the findings of a new analysis conducted by IRAP and the Refugee Advocacy Lab on access to in-state tuition for refugees, Special Immigrant Visa (SIVs) holders, humanitarian parolees, asylees, asylum-seekers and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders across all 50 states. With an overview of the key take-aways, speakers explored past challenges and successes by states to expand access for forcibly displaced students, as well as opportunities for the future, from legislative options to working directly with higher education institutions.
